About the work
Alex Schneidermann paints from observation, but her work resists spectacle. Rooted in classical technique and shaped by years of solitary practice, her paintings are quiet responses to the world - moments of stillness and presence. A landscape becomes shape, space turns into tone, composition holds it all in balance.
Her practice allows realism to gradually dissolve into abstraction. Lush, expansive landscapes are reduced to blocks of color, light and shadow, gestures that hold the feeling of a place without describing it precisely. In this small-format work, the painted surface becomes a window, framing a landscape where the observed meets the essential.
The classical tradition values patience and clarity, a careful search for light and structure. Schneidermann’s landscapes echo that lineage, not through depiction alone, but through quiet suggestion. They offer an invitation to pause, to see more by being shown less.
