About the work
In Karen Dolav’s pastel drawing, the circle appears as a form of quiet focus, a field where color gathers and expands. The work belongs to Edelsteine (German for “Gemstones”), a series in which each drawing is dedicated to a different stone or mineral.
This piece is based on angelite, a gemstone associated with calm, softness, and protective energy. Gentle layers of blue, gold, and violet move toward one another, converging inward. The drawing is simple, repeating, yet in its repetition it holds a search for presence.
