About the work
In Karen Dolav’s pastel drawing, the circle appears as a form of quiet focus, a field where color gathers and expands. The work belongs to Edelsteine (German for “Gemstones”), a series in which each drawing is dedicated to a different stone or mineral.
This piece is based on opal, a gemstone associated with intuition, inner movement, and emotional resonance. Soft layers of pink, green, and violet unfold gently on the paper, converging toward the center. The drawing is simple, repeating, yet in its repetition it holds a search for presence.
